FAQs

What is a Pilates workout?

A Pilates workout prioritizes quality rather than quantity, emphasizing proper alignment and precision during full-body movements. While attention to detail is key, Pilates is a dynamic form of exercise that encourages movement with control to help you move fluidly and with purpose while maintaining high accuracy.

Why is Pilates suitable for me?

Each Pilates exercise integrates stretch, strength, and control with the body’s stretch achieved through opposing forces during movement to keep the bones and joints aligned and stable. The Pilates system uses various apparatus to train the body to activate the right muscles in the correct order. Exercises are performed across all planes of motion, utilizing body weight, resistance, or spring tension to challenge and strengthen the body continually.

How does Pilates Spring resistance differ from the use of conventional weights?

Pilates springs provide continuous and variable resistance throughout an exercise, unlike conventional weights, which typically offer resistance in one direction only. Implementing springs helps engage muscles more effectively and promotes balanced strength development.

Why is Pilates a good form of exercise for joint health?

Using springs offers a gentler, more controlled form of resistance, reducing the risk of joint strain and injury. This allows for smoother, more fluid movements that promote joint space, which is especially beneficial for those with joint concerns or recovering from injury.

Are sticky socks required?

No. We work barefoot in the studio, but if you prefer to wear sticky socks, then you may do so.
